Volleyball Knocks off Cameron, Angelo State in Tourney

San Angelo, TX -- Western New Mexico's volleyball team jumped back into the win column Friday with an impressive come-from-behind win over previously unbeaten Cameron in the opening round of the Concho Volleyball Classic in San Angelo. The Mustangs (4-2) then came back in the nightcap to sweep Angelo State (1-6) in three games.

The Cameron game saw WNMU (4-2) lose the first two games 26-30 and 25-30 before roaring back to take the last three 30-27, 30-23 and 15-12. Cameron dropped to 4-1.

Against Cameron, Liz Narkon, Jennifer Snowbarger (Oskaloosa, IA/Oskaloosa High School) and Meghan Watson (Kailua, HI/Kailua High School) had big games offensively with 19, 18, and 17 kills respectively. Courtney Heiser (Tempe, AZ/Marcos de Niza High School) had 45 assists and Jessica Lingren nabbed 21 digs.

The Mustangs face Texas-Permian Basin and Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday.
